A highly engaging AI & Sports Science Fun Day was successfully organized for all Form 1 students. The event aimed to blend cutting-edge technology with practical sports science, giving students a fun and educational introduction to how modern tools can help monitor and improve physical fitness.

 

Students first learned the fundamental theory behind heart rate measurement — including what heartbeats indicate about exercise intensity, recovery, and overall cardiovascular health. They then rolled up their sleeves for a hands-on activity, assembling their own micro:bit-driven heart rate monitoring devices. Guided by instructors, the students connected sensors, programmed the micro:bit boards, and tested their custom devices, turning abstract concepts into working gadgets.

 

After mastering the technology, the students were divided into four groups to experience physical exercises of varying intensity levels. Each group participated in tailored activities — ranging from light warm-ups and moderate cardio to more vigorous interval training — while using their newly built devices to measure and record real-time heart rate data. This allowed them to observe firsthand how different exercise intensities affected their bodies and to understand the importance of balancing effort with recovery.

 

The day was filled with laughter, teamwork, and excitement. Students were fully engaged throughout the activities, showing great enthusiasm for both the tech-making and the physical challenges. By the end of the event, not only had they gained valuable knowledge in AI applications and sports science, but they also promoted their own health and fitness through active participation.

 

Feedback from the students was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing interest in similar future events that combine STEM learning with real-world wellness. The AI & Sports Science Fun Day proved to be both educational and enjoyable, leaving a lasting impression on all participants.
